"We do not see things as they are; we see things as we are." -The Talmud

My recent work includes a series of portraits representing glamorous women in calculated poses. This series is strongly influenced by my fascination with Madonna, of whom I have been a huge fan for more than 24 years. She has always been an inspiration to me and her creativity and audacity have given me the motivation to pursue my artistic dreams.

In these portraits, I wish to explore the emotional interaction between the women and the viewers. These women, while ostensibly self-confident and erotic are enigmatic and vulnerable. Their strong presence forces the viewers to see beyond their perfect visual representation. Moreover, the viewers realise that they are not looking at the paintings but the paintings are looking at them.

Although I use a variety of techniques, I mainly work with oil paint as I think it is the perfect medium to translate my aesthetic.
