DoberOne
Acrylic paint, collage and silver leaf on canvas
This artwork is both elegant and contemporary.
The Doberman stands with a confident, almost aristocratic posture. It appears neither aggressive nor submissive, but rather proud and contemplative — perhaps even complicit with the viewer.
The woman has been deliberately framed starting from her long legs. In a way, she is “fragmented,” almost anonymous, in contrast to the dog, who feels highly embodied and charismatic.
My choice of a silver background creates a cold, almost metallic atmosphere, contrasting with the touches of red.
Beyond the obvious aesthetic appeal lies a desire to question appearances and to denounce the way we look at dogs, which are both victims of fashion and subject to prejudice and profiling.
